Pair of Brutalist Wrought Iron & Murano Ice Glass Wall Sconces, attributed to Tom Ahlström & Hans Ehrlich, Sweden, 1960s-70s
A striking pair of sculptural wall sconces in the Scandinavian Brutalist tradition, each with a hand-forged blackened wrought iron frame in an abstract, spear-like silhouette, centered on thick slabs of hammered "ice glass" Murano glass in clear and amber tones. This design language is closely associated with Swedish designers Tom Ahlström and Hans Ehrlich, produced under their company A&E Lights, celebrated for pioneering this raw combination of hand-worked iron and chunky Murano glass in the 1960s-70s. This pair is unsigned but well aligned with their documented body of work.

Substantial and richly textured, this pair makes a powerful architectural statement — ideal flanking a fireplace, entryway, or staircase.
