Antique French Painted Tin Chandelier – Bouillotte Style – Restoration Era
A wonderfully sober and architectural antique chandelier, its tole body painted in a soft, weathered green, in the tradition of French bouillotte lamps adapted here into chandelier form. The style speaks to the early 19th century Restauration period in France, with its clean lines and simple, elegant proportions. Three straight arms extend from the central column, each holding an original opaline faux-candle sleeve — a lovely period detail rarely found intact.
A quietly elegant piece with genuine age and character, well suited to a study, dining room, or entryway seeking understated antique charm.
Dimensions:
Diameter: 40 cm (15.7 in)
Height (fixture only): 45 cm (17.7 in)
Chain: additional 30 cm (11.8 in)
Material: Painted tole (metal)
Condition: Antique condition with lovely, honest wear to the original paint, consistent with its age. Original opaline faux-candle sleeves present. In good working order.
Sockets: Fitted with 3 European E14 sockets. US buyers may wish to use E14-compatible bulbs sourced locally, or have sockets converted by an electrician if standard US E26/candelabra bulbs are preferred.
Wiring note: This fixture is hardwired (no plug) and installed by an electrician, just like any chandelier or sconce. The original European wiring works perfectly on US current — lower voltage means less strain, not more. Note: as with most vintage European lighting, it does not carry UL certification.
Carefully packed and shipped from France. Message with any questions!
