This rare and devastating French Belle Époque (late 19th century) ceiling flush mount is impressively layered with artistic flair and Neoclassical symbolism. The cast, gilt bronze frame is a sculptural masterpiece incorporating a ceiling medallion of acanthus leaves alternating with cartouches, connecting to the central column from which the pierced, foliate-decorated globe of the main body hangs. From there, each of the three arms rise from the heads of satyrs mounted to the globe, arcing outward to blossom with delicate Art Nouveau style frosted glass diffusers around chandelier-base bulbs. Fabulous rococo tendril arms curl inward, unfurling their delicate leaves toward the scrolled chins of the satyrs.
